Frequently Asked adoption Questions
How Long Does the Process Take?

The length of time the adoption process takes depends on the agency you choose. The best way to ensure a smooth experience is to do your homework. Read up on the agency, the adoption requirements, and gather documentation before your first visit.

How Much Does Adopting Cost?

This fee also depends on the individual agency. The fees can range anywhere from $0 to $250. Always check with the agency before choosing a baby.

What Is the Difference Between Adopting and Fostering?

The main difference between the two terms is the length of time spent with the pet. Fostering is a temporary arrangement, a transitional process where the cat lives with a family until she gets chosen for a permanent home. Adoption is a permanent process where the future owner goes through rigourous screening before taking their new baby home.

Will I need Additional Veterinarian Services?

The short answer is yes. Most agencies require that you get your baby a full checkup by a licensed veterinarian sometime during the first 3 to 14 days of your baby’s arrival. If your pet hasn’t been spayed or neutered then you’ll be required to sign an agreement stating that you will have the procedure done within a set timeframe. Doing so ensures that both you and the agency agree on the health condition of your new cat and identifies any unforeseen issues that might’ve been missed by the agency’s vet.

Can I take A Pet Home Directly From the Shelter?

In most cases you can take a pet home directly from the shelter. Animals that have been put up for adoption have already gone through an initial checkup and are deemed safe. However, most times, you’ll be required to get your new pet spayed or neutered by a certain timeframe.
